Gladiolus are a classic perennial, known for tall spikes of
colorful blooms. These florist and gardener favorite are easy to grow, harvest
and design with. They begin to
open at the bottom and ascend upward in a beautiful display. Remove spent
bottom blooms to keep the garden looking fresh. When harvesting for cut flower
production, harvest when only the first 1-3 bottom flowers are in full bloom,
the remaining will open in the vase.  Prized
for sturdy stems, long vase life and versatility in designed work, they are a
must have staple.
